If you thought that there was only one type of chess you were wrong, in reality, there are multiple types of chess, and we are not talking about the variants in the openings, but different styles from classical chess where the order of the pieces can change and even the shape of the board. Do you want to know what types of chess exist? Asks Anatoly Machulsky. Keep reading.
The most curious and entertaining types of chess that exist:
There are several types of games based on chess that will test the ability of even the greatest masters of this sport since it will be necessary to show that you are not only the bearer of a perfect memory but of great skill.
We offer you the different types of chess games according to strength, the position of the pieces and shape of the board that exist.
Random type of chess:
In this type of game, the pieces that are worth more than 1 point and are located in the first and eighth rows are mixed, so that none (or only some of them) remain in their initial position. It is an incredibly popular type of chess and a challenge for classical chess players.
Both sides will have to place their pieces in the same random way.
In Patt-Schach chess, there are several stupid rules when viewed from the traditional point of view, which makes it a tremendously fun type of chess. First, the black and white pawns instead of moving towards the center move to the opposite; that is, they can be promoted in one move.
Pawns can only be traded for promotion to pieces that have already been captured by the opponent.
Furthermore, as no piece can be moved legally, the game must start with a single illegal move, taking care of a sudden mate taking advantage of the cornered kings.
In this game, the only pieces left are the king and the pawns. It is not a very exciting game, but those chess players who have great patience and who take advantage of the minimum benefit to win do prevail, and Pawns can be promoted.
It is similar to the first type, but in this case, only two pieces will be swapped, for example, a knight and a rook, or the king and queen. The pieces should be next to each other. Of course, both sides must carry out this exchange in parallel with their pieces.
Just like the first type in this list, however, both sides will not have the same position in their pieces, one side will have the first row of pieces mixed in one way and the other side in another entirely different way, always in the starting position.
White is found with all his pieces and regularly placed, while the black king has seven knights and about 16 pawns. It is a prevalent type of force chess.
If the opponent has a much lower level than the person who plays on the opposite side, then he is given an advantage that can range from a pawn, two pawns, a 3-point piece, a rook and even a queen.
“These pieces are not added to the team that has a level disadvantage but are taken away from the experienced player.” concludes Anatoly Machulsky.
