Smarter, more environmentally sustainable Uni-Blinds deliveries arrive

Investment in sophisticated new logistics planning software by Morley Glass & Glazing means all its customer deliveries of Uni-Blinds integral blinds are now more efficient and greener than ever.

The West Yorkshire based integral blinds and glass processing specialist has introduced Fleet Wizard, an automated route planning solution, to all 26 of its delivery vehicles which make thousands of deliveries across the UK every week. It is an advanced software platform that gives Morley Glass a clear picture of its weekly orders nationwide so easy load planning can be carried out for its vans, taking into consideration both location and load capacities.

The result is a logistics process that saves both time and fuel and is another demonstration of how Morley Glass is utilising the latest technology to optimise manufacturing quality and its carbon footprint whilst maintaining industry-leading lead times. It means that all Pellini blinds orders are delivered in the most efficient manner and helps to avoid delays in the installation for end-users.

Using Fleet Wizard, the Morley Glass team of planners and dispatchers simply loads data into the software’s easy-to-use dashboard which then automates multi-depot, multi-route, multi-drop scheduling. This generates optimal trip plans with resources assigned in a fraction of the time required for a manual planning process.

Closing the loop on product sustainability, Morley Glass also uses its delivery vans to recover post-consumer glass from customers on the return journeys back to its Leeds manufacturing and recycling centre. This free glass collection service gives customers a way to dispose of any glass removed during replacement jobs without having to send it to costly landfill, with Morley Glass turning the waste glass into cullet using its glass crushing machine before it is sent to Saint-Gobain Glass for use in the manufacture of new float glass.
